CONVERSION
YOU may be heading for a vend-price limitation and/or the problems associated with
obsolescent technology. Moreover, the euro family of coins are in circulation in the UK.
Although the UK is not for the foreseeable future adopting the EC single-currency,
nevertheless banks and other financial institutions here are committed to trading in euros
as our partners within the single-currency regime are doing so. Visitors to Britain from
other EC countries therefore expect to be able to make transactions in euros at vending machines without difficulty.

Chesford has developed low-cost hardware packages with which operators may adapt their existing Harting or Wurlitzer vending machines to accept euros as well as other currencies
and thus extend their useful life until well into the 21st century. These factory-assembled, ready-to-install enhancement packages are available now. A Chesford-enhanced machine
may be programmed to:
- Accept mixed currencies (local, euro or others)
- Allow you to set your own exchange-rates
- Allow you to simply set your own vend prices, either en bloc or individually
- Cater for up to 14 pushbuttons
- Operate up to 12 ‘pecker’ solenoids
- Have any pushbutton operate any channel (thus activating the appropriate channel’s ‘pecker’ solenoid; ideally, but not necessarily, pushbutton 1 should activate ‘pecker’ solenoid 1)
- Shift the decimal-point to any position on the display, to cope with all likely currencies
- Display audit information, such as:
- Individual packet-sales (resettable counter)
- Grand packet-sales (non-resettable counter)
- Grand cash total (non-resettable counter)
- Grand cash-overpayment (non-resettable counter)
